Biography of Ferdinand Victor Eugène Delacroix

Ferdinand Victor Eugène Delacroix was born on 26 April 1798 in Charenton-Saint-Maurice, France. He died in Paris on August 13, 1863 and was one of the most important French painters.

His paintings painted Delacroix, in contrast to the prevailing practice of his time, in intense color worlds that give his works a very special atmosphere and unique Lent character. The prevailing style, the plastic ideal for the priority to give the brightness values priority, he considered treason to the very essence of painting: the color world itself. Therefore, and because of his enormous imagination as a pioneer of Impressionism.

Although Eugène Delacroix is attributed to French late Romanticism, he himself refused to fit into the popular romantic school, which many Impressionists took as an example.
