She has been active in the art world since 1981, focusing particularly on the themes of color-symbolic perception of the external world and the emotional states of people in specific life situations.

After studying graphic design at the Merz Academy in Stuttgart and joining the artist group "Experiment" in Stuttgart, she pursued further studies in Salzburg, Remscheid, and Trier.

Since 1984, she has been publicly showcased through numerous solo exhibitions of her paintings, including in Stuttgart, Hamburg, Trier, Saarbrücken, Mannheim, Berlin, as well as in Hungary, Lanzarote, Finland, and Poltava (formerly USSR). Her contributions have appeared in books published by Marsilius-Verlag Speyer ("Licht Flügel Schatten") and Nie-Nie-Sagen-Verlag Konstanz, as well as in publications by Werner Sprenger.

Polnauer's work is characterized by a profound engagement with color and its emotional impact. Her creations reflect human moods and inner worlds, which she conveys through a clear, often abstract visual language. She combines graphic precision with expressive color compositions, creating an intense dialogue between viewer and artwork.
