Landscape Paintings

Landscape painting (Romanticism)

Landscape paintings have existed in Europe since the ancient Greeks. This type of paintings not only illustrate real natural landscapes, but also scenarios created by men.

The concept of landscape paintings is closely linked to realistic art. However, other types of imaginary landscapes created by artists themselves, such as surreal or idealized landscape paintings, fit perfectly in this category. The famous Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich is a good example of realistic representations of landscapes. He created an atmosphere of his own with his Romantic landscape paintings, with his extremely realistic color technique.
