The artist Joan Ledang lives and works in Lynæs, Denmark. She is self-taught and, in addition to her paintings, creates art installations, furnishings, illustrations, and more.
Joan works with various media. Her works are very figurative, and she selects elements and materials based on the stories they are meant to tell according to her vision. It often starts with a photo, a quote, or an excerpt, from which figures and narratives emerge. This spontaneous and impulsive process constantly evolves, resulting in her paintings often consisting of many layers. Her style is clever, somewhat naïve, and often humorous, and she enjoys playing with words in her artwork.
