Jacques-Louis David - The painter of Franch history (1748 - 1825)
Jacques Louis David, born on August 30 in Paris, devoted his artistic work to antiquity and was a typical representative of classicism. He was the court painter of the French royal family and he later became a member of the French Academy.
David was a politically active person who was involved in the fall of Robespierre. Later, he worshiped Napoleon and he painted for him. But with the demise of Napoleon, he was labeled as "regicide", which costed him the expulsion from the Academy of Arts and was exile back to Brussels where he died on December 29, 1825.
