Catherine Abel was born in 1966 in Atherton, Australia. Art has been a significant part of her life from an early age. Inspired by a 1920s painting by the artist Tamara de Lempicka, she developed her own unique style: a blend of geometric shapes characteristic of the classic Art Deco style and the detailed representation of the Italian Renaissance.
As a single mother, she was reluctant to take the risk of pursuing her passion for art full-time in her younger years. It was only after her move to Paris in 2000 that Abel began painting professionally as a self-taught artist.
Her works are now featured in numerous private collections around the world. The Australian artist is internationally renowned for her figurative oil paintings. Her art has been exhibited in Australia, France, and the USA.
