Art Styles & Art Eras

Art styles

The term "style" originates from Latin and originally meant "writing manner." In art, a style describes the characteristic features that connect works of a particular generation of artists or a shared artistic direction, such as a school or movement.

Art eras

Art periods refer to overarching segments in art history, distinguished by temporal categorization and stylistic features. For instance, the art of the 19th and early 20th centuries is considered Modern, while works from 1945 onwards are classified as Postmodern.
